Weight loss food updates

One bad thing I'm learning about eating healthy and being on a diet (rather, changing fundamentally my eating habits) is that there are not that many healthy and lean foods out there, and the few that are readily available, I get sick of them eventually after eating them for the past month and a half straight.

Things I have gotten sick of so far while being on this diet:
  • Lean oven roasted turkey breast
  • Tilapia / Cod
  • Real (99% egg white) Product (also known as Egg Beaters)
  • Chicken breast
  • Grapefruit
  • Iceberg salad
  • Raw celery
  • Certain Clif bars

As much as health experts promote the benefits of eating nuts, they have an extremely poor "calorie per nom".  In other words, you don't get much bang for the buck.  Nuts are highly concentrated energy sources, with a lot more calories (and fat) than most other food items.  The upside is if I am running out of energy, I can replenish quickly, downside is for dieting purposes, I don't get full.

One item I have found that keeps me full is the Premier Nutrition High Protein Bars.

They aren't the best tasting thing out there, but they are tasty enough for me to stomach.  In addition, because Costco sells the variety pack version, I can rotate around the flavors and prevent myself of getting sick of the product.  I use this protein bar as a quick meal replacement (generally breakfast when I don't feel like waking up early).

Lastly, when one starts eating healthy, he/she generally starts paying attention to the nutritional labels.  One thing I noticed is that most "energy" and protein bars contain high fructose corn syrup and many times trans fat as well as hydrogenated oils.  The Premier Nutrition protein bar contains none of these artificial products.
