The issue with these R/C helicopters is they are IR, not RF controlled. This means the beam can be disrupted very easily and you can quickly loose control of the helicopter.
This accident pictures here almost cost me my life. My SO was not amused.

Why indoor R/C Helicopters may be bad for your health
When I first started at my current company, we went through a phase where we bought a lot of remote controlled electronics, including a fleet of Brookstone u-Control indoor R/C helicopters. They were so much fun I bought a couple for my house. Let's just say they are not recommended if anyone who lives in your house has long hair.
