San Francisco in the 50s

My, how time has changed in the city I grew up in. Things look familiar, but yet still different. Some things I didn't even know existed, but makes a lot of sense now that I have seen this video. For example, all the "ruins" around lands end near the sutro baths was part of a tram system, and along Ocean Beach was actually an amusement park not unlike the Santa Cruz beach boardwalk.

I am really glad they removed the Embarcadero Freeway though, the San Francisco financial district is so much prettier and nicer without the overpass (pictured below).

And if you're looking for even earlier footage, here's one from 1906, right before the big earthquake/fire. After seeing that footage, the setup of the Ferry Building by my office makes a lot more sense.
