Social Media Experts: My thoughts exactly

Why I Will Never, Ever Hire A "Social Media Expert"

I burst out laughing when I read this quote, "I was going to call this article “All 'Social Media Experts' Need To Go Die In A Fire,” but I figured I should be nicer than that."

This is probably one of the funniest and true articles.  Social media experts are like the Harold Camping of online media.  They don't add any real value besides "creating buzz" by pretending to do something valuable.  Because it's next to impossible to measure their contribution to the business, there's no way you can figure out whether they are actually helping the company.

Here's a hint.  If you can't figure out if the individual or position is directly contributing to your company, probably better to let them go and hire someone you know will positively contribute.
